How To

Learn how to create, edit, and delete comments on LEAP Desktop and mobile. Follow these simple steps to manage comments across all your matters.

Create a New Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click New Comment on the toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + T.
Clickon the toolbar to add the staff member, date and time stamp.
Complete the comment.
(Optional) Enter a Document Name to rename the comment.

If Document Name is used when creating a comment, this will be used as the billing description of the AutoTime time entry and the description of the activity itself. If the Document Name is left empty, the first line of the comment will be used instead.
(Optional) Click on the Notify drop-down menu and select a Staff Member to receive a notification regarding the comment.

The Staff Member selected will receive an alert in their Notifications window.

You can open the Notifications window at any time by clicking on the Matter List.
(Optional) Click to print the comment.
(Optional) Click to create a new task.
Click Save & Close or Save & Billable.

This feature allows for the addition of notes, suggestions, or questions related to a matter.

Edit an Existing Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Open the comment.
(Optional) Click on the toolbar to insert a horizontal line.
Clickon the toolbar to add the staff member, date and time stamp.
Edit the comment.
Click Save & Close.

Delete a Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Right-click the comment and select Delete.
Provide a reason and click OK.

Restore a Deleted Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click and select Show Deleted Correspondence.

Deleted comments are displayed in red.
Right-click the deleted comment and select Undelete.
Confirm the action.

Create a New Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click New Comment.

The New Comment window will open.
Clickon the toolbar to add the staff member, date and time stamp.
Complete the comment.
(Optional) To select a staff member to receive a notification about the comment, click on the default value "None" in the "Assign To" field to display a list of staff members.

The Staff Member selected will have it shown in their Notifications window.

You can open the Notifications window at any time by clicking on the Matter List.
Click Save.

Edit an Existing Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Open the comment.

Delete a Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Right-click the comment and select Delete.

Restore a Deleted Comment

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click and select Show Deleted.
Right-click the deleted comment and select Undelete.

Swipe to or tap the Correspondence tab.
Tap and then New Comment.
Tap on the toolbar to add the staff member, date and time stamp.
Complete the comment.
(Optional) Tap the To field and select a Staff to receive a notification regarding the comment.

The Staff Member selected will have it shown in their Notifications window.

You can open the Notifications window at any time by tapping .
Tap Save.

Confirm the deletion.
