Probate Application Fee Calculator is a new table available in applicable VIC Estate Administration matters. Suited to firms wanting accurate, regulation-aligned fee estimates at the point of opening a matter, the calculator instantly returns both the Probate Office Filing Fee prescribed by Schedule 1 of the Supreme Court (Fees) Regulations 2018 and the basic charges payable out of the estate to a solicitor under Rule 9.01 of the Supreme Court (Administration and Probate) Rules 2023.

The Probate Office Fees section confirms both the RedCrest-Probate Filing Fee and Online Advertisement Fee, whilst the Basic Charges section returns the GST inclusive and exclusive GST figures under Rule 9.01. There are also separate tabs within the calculator showing how each of these amounts are calculated.

How to Access

The Probate Application Fee Calculator is accessed from within applicable LEAP matters by following the steps below:

Open your matter.

Click to edit heading

Applicable matters include VIC Probate, Letters of Administration and Letters of Administration with Will Annexed.
In the Details tab, scroll down until you see the Probate Application Fee Calculator from the list of available tables.
Double click to open the calculator in a new window.
Click to edit heading
In the event that a matter was created prior to the release of this feature, the Probate Application Fee Calculator table can be manually added to the matter:
- Right click on Matter Details > select Edit Table Types
- Search for "Probate Application Fee Calculator" > tick active
- Select OK

How it Works

The calculator window opens and displays three tabs:

Calculator,
Probate Office Fees, and
Professional Charges.

On the Calculator tab:

Enter the gross estate value in the designated field.
The calculator automatically populates:
- Probate Office Fees effective 1 July 2026 (no GST)
- Online Advertisement – RedCrest-Probate fee (no GST)
- Basic charges under Rule 9.01 of the Supreme Court (Administration and Probate) Rules 2023 (excluding and including GST)
