How To

To invoice your Legal Aid Crown Court matter, complete the following steps:

From within the Details & Correspondence tab of the matter, click on the Legal Aid Matter Details button.

Check the Branch, Litigator's name, Court, and Case number have been entered.

Ensure all the cost recovery items have been entered.
Click on the drop-down arrow for New Invoice and select the state of work you wish to raise the for the invoice, Representation in the Crown Court.

Enter the relevant reporting codes for Type of case, Trial type, Offence class, Offence, No. of days, PPE, and Defendants.

Check the information and click Save & Close to finalise and save the invoice to the matter. The invoice line item will be displayed within the Office Accounting ledger.

To produce the relevant billing form, open the invoice by double clicking on the appropriate line within the grid. Click on the word icon in the top right corner of the invoice screen, which will display a list of the available billing forms. Selecting the form will open the form within word and pre-populate this with the relevant time, fee, and cost recovery entries, or invoice information.

Check the detail on the form and click Save & Close to save a copy of this onto the matter.
If you wish to upload your claim directly into the portal, double click to open the invoice and click the up arrow.

When the claim is uploaded to the portal, it is uploaded in draft format and will need to be confirmed.
Log into portal to review the list of claims.

Find the claim that has just been uploaded and review the claim information.
On reviewing the claim, you will be able to amend or add any information, and upload supporting documentation.

Note: You will need to ensure that your users have been set up within the portal and LEAP with valid email addresses, that match.
