LEAP provides the ability to create and modify/customize the Invoice Template that can be used when creating an invoice or creating an invoice mailing.

Desktop

Modifying the Invoice Template

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click Forms & Templates.

The Forms & Templates will open in a new window.
Make sure you're on the Browse tab.
Navigate to Practice Management > Accounting > Accounting folder on the left-hand side.

Alternatively, you may search for your Invoice template using the Search templates field.
Right-click the Invoice template and select Edit Template.

The Invoice template will open in Microsoft Word.
Make the necessary changes as desired.
Click Save & Close and provide Reason for Change.

Assigning the Invoice Template's Class

To assign a default invoice template in Forms & Templates, follow these steps:

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Click Forms & Templates.

The Forms & Templates will open in a new window.
Make sure you're on the Browse tab.
Navigate to Practice Management > Accounting > Accounting folder on the left-hand side.

Alternatively, you may search for your Invoice template using the Search templates field.
Select your invoice of choice.
Right-click and click Change > Template's Class > Invoice.
In order to set a specific invoice as default, you would have to make sure every other template's class in this folder is set to None. If there are multiple invoices with a class of invoice, it will ask you to choose between those options every time.

Inserting Fields and Tables

With the Invoice template opened in Modify Mode, from the LEAP tab, click Insert in Wordbill section.

The LEAP Wordbill Fields window will appear on the right-hand side of the document.
Select from the list of available Tables and Fields.
Place the cursor in the template where you wish to insert the field and click to position it.
Select a field and click Insert.

To display recent payment history on your LEAP invoice, contact your Client Success Manager to request this customization for your invoice template. Once the feature is enabled, payment history will appear on your future invoices.

If your firm would like to make any amendments to the Invoice Sections Layout, i.e., include the staff's initials, see Application Settings - Invoice > Layout.

Fields within the document may generate as "Sample Data" if a synchronization issue occurs with the template. If this happens, try inserting the fields and tables again.

Inserting Section Information

With the Invoice template opened in Modify Mode, from the LEAP tab, click Insert in Wordbill section.

The LEAP Wordbill Fields window will appear on the right-hand side of the document.
Place the cursor in the template where you wish to insert the field and click to position it.
Select Section Information.
Click Insert.

The Insert Section Information will open in a new window.
Enter the Section Name (as per your Invoice's Group Name).

Ensure the Section Name is entered correctly as a misspelling will result in empty fields.

Select a Field from the drop-down list.
Click Insert.

Invoice Template Styles

Invoice Templates uses Word Styles for the text within the body of the Invoice Template, and also for the invoice layout i.e. the Professsional Fees and Disbursements table, including:

Text size, font and color
Borders and shading

By default, LEAP uses the Normal style for all document types. To edit a style:

With the Invoice template opened in Modify Mode, click the Home tab.
Find and right-click the Normal style in Styles section.
Select Modify.

The Modify Style will open in a new window.
Select the font, font size, color and other formatting for the Normal style.
Click OK.

Formatting Borders and Shading

The Invoice Sections i.e. the Professional Fees and Disbursements tables, by default have borders and shading. The tables uses Table styles. To make changes, follow the steps below:

Select the desired table within the Invoice Sections placeholder.
Click the Table Design tab.
Click the second drop-down arrow to expand the Table Styles list.

Click to edit heading

By default, LEAP uses the LEAPWordbill Table Style.

Click Modify Table Style.

The Modify Style will open in a new window.
Select the area of the table you wish to format e.g. Whole table or Header row from the Apply formatting to drop-down list.
Make the necessary changes for the border and shading.
Click OK.
