Learn how to streamline your workflow for efficient document management in LEAP by exporting documents from the Correspondence List to a local folder.

Export a Document

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Find and select the document(s) from the Correspondence List that you wish to export.

Click to edit heading

To export multiple documents, hold Ctrl and select them.
To export all documents in the list, hold Ctrl + A.
You can export up to 100 documents at once.

Right-click the document(s) and select Export.
Browse to the folder location you want the document(s) exported to and select it.
Select Same as creation date and time or Current date and time.

If the Creation date and time of exported files option does not appear, hold Alt and click OK.

LEAP does not offer an option to export an entire matter. If your matter contains a large number of documents, we recommend grouping them into folders of up to 100 documents each. Then, right-click each folder and select 'Export' to save it to your local workstation.

You cannot create or export directly to a .zip file. To compress exported folders, right-click each one and select 'Compress to...' > 'ZIP file'.

This process is useful for exporting documents from LEAP to your local system. Once exported, you may then transfer or share the files with third parties.

Export a Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Find and select the folder from the Correspondence List that you wish to export.

To export multiple folders, hold Ctrl and select them.

Right-click the folder and then select Export Folder.
Browse to the folder location you want the document(s) exported to and select it.
The Document Export Options will appear.

Select Same as creation date and time or Current date and time.
Click OK.

Export a Single Document as PDF

You can now export a document from LEAP to a local folder on your computer as a PDF file.

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Find and select the document from the Correspondence List that you wish to export.
Right-click the document and select Export Document as PDF.

The Export as PDF window will open.

If you tick the option 'Do not show this window again,' the Create PDF window will no longer appear the next time you create a PDF.

To restore the Export as PDF window, which allows you to rename the document, click the three dots (...) in the top-right corner of the matter page and select Reset PDF Preferences.

(Optional) Rename the PDF document.
(Optional) Click Add more documents to select other documents to create a combined PDF or multiple PDF documents.

(Optional) Tick Secure to restrict editing to the PDF document.
(Optional, requires Secure to be enabled) Tick Custom Password to set your own password for the PDF document.

Setting a custom password will restrict modifications to the PDF (e.g. editing or commenting), but it will not prevent the document from being opened or viewed.

To modify or remove these restrictions, you will need a PDF editing tool (such as Adobe Acrobat) and the password used when creating the PDF.

Click Export.
Browse to the folder location you want the document(s) exported to and select it.

Export Multiple Documents as PDF

You can now export documents from LEAP to a local folder on your computer as PDF files.

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Find and select the documents from the Correspondence List that you wish to export.

To select multiple documents, hold Ctrl on your keyboard and click the documents.

If you accidentally select the wrong document, hold Ctrl on your keyboard and click the document again to unselect.

To export multiple documents, hold Ctrl and select them.
To export all documents in the list, hold Ctrl + A.
You can export up to 100 documents at once.

Right-click any of the selected documents and select Export Documents as PDF.

The Export as PDF window will open.
(Optional) Rename the combined PDF.
(Optional) Tick Secure to restrict editing to the PDF document.
(Optional, requires Secure to be enabled) Tick Custom Password to set your own password for the PDF document.

(Optional) Untick Combine if you would like to not combine the selected documents into a single PDF document, but export separate PDF documents.
(Optional, Combine required) Tick Create Bookmark to dynamically insert bookmarks for each documents which will be available in the combined PDF document.
Select a document and click Up/Down arrows to change the order that the documents will be displayed in the combined PDF document.

You also can click and drag a document to change the order.
You can add additional documents by drag and drop the document from the Correspondence List of the matter or a document fraom your computer into the Export as PDF window.

You also can right-click a document and select Add Files to select a document from your computer.
You can right-click a document and select Restore Removed Documents to restore document(s) you removed from the Export as PDF window.
Click Export.
Browse to the folder location you want the document(s) exported to and select it.

Export a Document

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Select the document from the Correspondence List by clicking the checkbox to the left of it.

To export multiple documents, hold Ctrl and select them.
To export all documents in the list, select the checkbox in the top left column to select all.
You can export up to 100 documents at once.

Right-click the document and then select Export Document.

Export a Folder

Open the matter.
Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.
Find and select the folder from the Correspondence List that you wish to export.
Right-click the folder and then select Export.

The Document Export Options will appear.
Select whether you would like the Creation date and time of exported files to be either:
- Same as creation date and time of documents
- Current date and time
Click OK.
Browse to the folder location you want the folder(s) exported to and select it.
Click Save.

Please note it is not possible to export documents directly to any third-party applications. Documents must be first exported to your local PC and then manually uploaded to the required application/software.
