To access the Matter Summary app:

When you generate a matter summary for the first time within a matter, the Matter Summary app will begin document processing automatically. If document processing is in progress, the current stage and the number of documents being processed will be displayed.

You can also hover over the icon to view the document processing status.

Once you click on the Matter Summary tab, the matter summary will begin to generate within the window.

You can copy the matter summary by clicking the Copy icon, or regenerate it as needed by clicking Refresh.

If a matter summary has been previously generated for the matter, you can click the drop-down arrow next to Refresh to create another summary using another model. For more information, see Generate a New Summary with a Different Model below.

Within a generated matter summary, certain paragraphs or sections may be derived from specific documents saved to the matter. These are indicated by numbered inline references that include the document type, as well as a corresponding reference list at the end of the summary.

Hover over a reference icon to view the inline citation, or click a reference to jump to its corresponding entry in the References.

Under References, you can view all documents cited in the summary, along with their numbered identifiers, titles, and document types. Click a reference to open a preview of the associated document.

You can generate a new matter summary using a different model by clicking the drop-down arrow next to Refresh and selecting an alternative model.

You can choose from the following models:

• GPT Instant: This model is fast and efficient for everyday questions and quick lookups.
• GPT Thinking: This model reasons carefully through complex, multi-step problems where precision matters.
• Claude Sonnet: This model balances speed and quality across drafting, document review, and everyday legal tasks.
• Claude Opus: Most capable option for high-stakes work, nuanced legal reasoning, and lengthy documents.

When you select a new model, a new matter summary will be generated. All subsequent responses will continue to use the selected model until you change it again.

You can view previous matter summaries generated via the Matter Summary app under History on the left. You will be able to view matter summaries for the whole firm from here. Sessions will be displayed here by time and date they were created.
