Learn how to search for documents on LEAP Desktop using basic keyword & document number searches, and advanced options for more specific queries. Preview search results directly from the Correspondence List.

Search for a Document Across All Your Matters

The Search All Correspondence feature displays up to 250 documents, starting with the oldest and progressing to the newest. This means only the earliest 250 documents may be shown, and more recent documents may be excluded.

 

For more accurate results, use specific search criteria or the Advanced Search feature to better target the documents you need.

  1. Click the LEAP Menu > Home > under Documents > Search All Correspondence.

    The Correspondence Search window will open.

  2. Enter a keyword in the Search Documents field then press Enter.

You can also search by document number, click the down arrow in the Search Documents field and select Search By Document Number. Enter the document number and click OK. Click the Search All Matters drop-down menu to select other options.

  1. (Optional) Click Advanced Search for further options. The Advanced Correspondence Search window will give you access to more search options.

  2. Click a document in the search results to preview the selected document in the preview panel.

Search for a Document Within a Matter

 

  1. Open the matter.

  2. Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.

  3. Enter a keyword in the Search Correspondence field.

    The Correspondence List will narrow down your search results.

Search the Contents of Documents in a Matter

 

  1. Open the matter.

  2. Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.

  3. Enter a keyword in the Search Correspondence field.

  4. Click the drop-down arrow of the search icon then select Search in Document Content.

    The Correspondence Search window will open and display your search results.

  5. Click a document in the search results to preview the selected document in the preview panel.

Search for a Document Across All Your Matters

 

  1. Click > Home > under Documents > Search All Correspondence.

    The Search All Correspondence window will open.

  2. Enter a keyword in the Search Documents field then press Enter.

  3. (Optional) Click Advanced Search for additional search options.

    The Advanced Correspondence Search window will give you access to more filter options including:

    • Document number
    • Matter number
    • Document name
    • Document content
    • Document type
    • Modified date

  4. (Optional) Click the filter icon to change the correspondence search scope—choose Recently searched matters or Select a matter to focus on a specific matter.

  5. Click a document in the search results to preview the selected document in the document preview pane on the right.

Search for a Document Within a Matter

 

  1. Open the matter.

  2. Make sure you're on the Details & Correspondence tab.

  3. Enter a keyword in the Search Correspondence field.

    The Correspondence List will narrow down your search results.
