If you have accidentally locked yourself out of a matter, you will need to ask a staff member who still has access to the matter to give you permission to open the matter. Your LEAP administrator cannot unrestrict a file that has been locked by another user.

The staff member will need to update the Access & Permission settings via the Matter Details to provide you access.

If you do not know who has access, the Matter List Report provides a list of all Matters and associated Staff. 

Currently, there is no Matter-based report that specifically lists or filters matters by their restriction status. The most effective way to identify restricted matters is to log in with an account that does not have access to any restricted matters. In the Matter List, restricted matters will be clearly marked with a yellow padlock icon next to them.

If a staff member no longer at the firm has restricted matters, you may be able to gain access by re-enabling their old account to unlock any restricted matters.

Please note that you will need assistance from your LEAP Administrator to gain access to their old account to unlock the matter.

Your LEAP Administrator will need to access the Members page via the LEAP Application Settings to temporarily assign a licence to the former staff member's LEAP account to re-enable. They will also need to update the login password via the staff member's profile under the General Details tab > Sign In Details.

Once the former staff member's account has been re-enabled, you will be able to log in via their LEAP account to access any restricted matters and unlock any matters via the Matter Details window > Access & Permissions, ensuring the Restrict Access To checkbox is unticked to allow access for all staff members or restrict to the correct staff members.

If your firm is a sole practitioner or if you have 1 LEAP licence, you will need a temporary licence from the LEAP Accounts team to carry out the steps to unlock the restricted matter.

Ask a colleague to confirm whether the matter is visible on their LEAP system. If the matter is accessible on their workstation, it suggests the issue is isolated to your machine. In such instances, perform a LEAP Repair, ensure LEAP is added to your Antivirus and Firewall Exception List and restart your device to confirm whether the issue has been resolved.
